Ronin-based social farming game Pixels has launched its Chapter 3 – Bountyfall – with a new community feature called Unions.
Unlike guilds, which require a certain level of communication and often are gated, Chapter 3 involves three game-wise union groups. Any player can choose to join any union, which then acts as a lightweight social layer for the game’s new competitive events.
In these, each of the three unions will compete to win rewards.
The unions are called Wildgroves, Seedwrights and Reapers, each of which has its own yieldstone resource – Verdant, Flint, or Hollow – which come in five tiers.
Yieldstones are earned by players from the game’s taskboard or by crafting on an NFT lands. Yieldstones are either deposited in your hearth to strengthen your union or on another union’s hearth to sabotage them.
Each season ends when the health of one union’s hearth reaches 100%. Then rewards of up to 50,000 PIXEL tokens ($7,500) will be distributed by union rank and player participation.
You can swap between unions but it costs 50 PIXEL tokens and there is a cooldown period.

“In the early days of Pixels, our strength was pure brute force. We shipped fast, without overthinking polish, and it worked. As our user base grew, we slowed down to perfect systems first, and honestly, that was a mistake. About six months ago, we decided to return to our roots with rapid updates, experimentation, and fast iteration. It’s been far more effective, and we’re seeing real momentum again,” commented CEO Luke Barwikowski.
“For this next stage, our focus is on building strong systems and sustainable economics first. That’s where the real experimentation needs to happen, and it’s exactly what we’re doing with Chapter 3.
“Over the past year, we’ve been refining everything around one core metric, return on reward spend, and for the first time, we’re seeing it above one. Our goal with Chapter 3 is to keep Pixels sustainable over time.”
