Playful Studios’ highly anticipated 2v2 MOBA, hero shooter, and TCG mash-up Wildcard is now confirmed to be playable during the Steam Next Fest event, which runs from Monday 13th October until Monday 20th October.
The game will then enter early access from Tuesday 21st October.
As a recap, Wildcard is a pure web2 PC game in which players battle in an interactive arena setting.
The ecosystem’s web3 elements are accessed via the Thousands platform, which as well as enabling spectators and streaming, also contains the metagame loops such as the ability to own in-game characters and stadia, wager on matches and create franchise teams.
All this activity happens using the WC token, which a 100% community-distributed Base-based coin that can be purchased via Thousands and is also used for rewards.

In this manner, Playful hopes to engage with Steam’s notoriously anti-blockchain playerbase, while also making the most of the marketing and deeper monetization opportunities created by blockchain assets.
