South Korean game item marketplace Overtake has formally announced the launch of its new blockchain-enabled platform using the Sui blockchain.
At launch, the marketplace will support a handful of PC games including Path of Exile 2, Last Epoch and MapleLand.
Users can create their own store selling digital items using the TakeShop marketplace builder. Shop owners can boost their selling power by offering rewards and accepting various payment types ranging from USDC to App Pay and Google Pay.
Activity on the marketplace is also rewarded with the platform’s TAKE token, which can staked for additional yield.
Created by a team with experience running peer-to-peer web2 item marketplaces ItemBay and ItemMania, Overtake’s vision is to create a blockchain-based platform that can be used to sell both web2 and web3 game assets including virtual currencies and collectibles while using the transparent nature and trustless payment rails of blockchain.

This aspect of the platform is particularly important for Overtake’s escrow process, which uses a two of three keys system, with the seller, the buyer and Overtake each having a private key to ensure that every transaction is properly secured and validated.
In this way, it expects that using blockchain will reduce transaction fees by over 50%, as well as reducing fraud and other disputes.
Overtake is also planning to introduce AI agents to the platform which it hopes will increase liquidity and improve price discovery.
