Offchain CEO Steven Goldfeder says Ethereum purists are underestimating what Robinhood means for Ethereum
When Robinhood did their announcement a year ago in Cannes, they had Vitalik there, and they were proud to say, "Hey, we’re launching on Ethereum." Why would anyone in the Ethereum ecosystem say, "No, no, no, this is not pure enough for us, it’s not Ethereum"? They’re shouting Ethereum. You should be happy. Ethereum is supporting them. They’re posting their data on Ethereum, posting their proofs on Ethereum. They’re creating a ton of demand for it. There’s been millions of dollars of fees in the last couple of days, multiple millions of dollars. All those fees are collected in ETH. And that’s driving tremendous demand for the ETH asset. There are some that have this strange purity test, but in actuality, Robinhood is doing something fantastic for Arbitrum and fantastic for Ethereum.
