People often claim DeFi has no real utility, but Sid points to a telling counterexample. Robinhood could have built the back end of this product on anything, CLOs, T-bills, any financial instrument in the world. Instead they chose DeFi infrastructure, DeFi vaults, and DeFi yield sources. That choice, from a player with access to everything, says there’s genuinely something there, whether it’s the liquidity, the structure of over collateralized lending, the speed, or the cost of operating it.
