Tillman Holloway on the self custody debate after the Coldcard hack
Amid all the Crypto Twitter debate following the Coldcard hack, Tillman’s take is that this problem was solved long ago. His argument is simple, insured custodians already exist to carry exactly this kind of risk, so let someone equipped to absorb it from an insurance perspective be the custodian. To him it’s not a hard concept, and he suggests the resistance comes mostly from the maxi community’s attachment to self custody. It’s a direct case for insured custody as a real answer to the risks cold storage can’t fully cover.
