Despite generating over $9 million in lifetime revenue, YGG has announced it’s closing down its YGG Play platform.
Launched with its LOL Land casual degen game in May 2025, YGG Play expanded into a full game publishing and token launch platform, with games including YGG’s Waifu Sweeper as well as Delabs Games’ Gigachadbat and Planetarium’s Ragnarok Breaker.
LOL Land, Waifu Sweeper and YGG Play will shut down on 31st July, but Gigachadbat and Ragnarok Breaker will continue to be operated by their developers.
YGG co-founder Gabby Dizon explained that while the headline numbers looked good, revenue actually peaked in October 2025. He cited the 10th October crypto liquidation event as being a key element in reducing ongoing market confidence and hence the liquidity of the casual degen audience YGG Play was looking to attract.

The result is YGG Play isn’t sustainable in the current market, which is why YGG is shutting it down, with the loss of 35 jobs.
Instead, YGG will continue operations with a sustainable headcount. Yield Guild’s treasury is worth over $20 million, of which $6 million are held in stablecoins, T-bills, and large-cap tokens. It now has four years worth of operating runway.
“Sunsetting YGG Play is a heavy decision, but it is a market decision, not a product decision,” said Dizon.
“I am proud of what this team achieved under such tough conditions, and what they built is a testament to their talent and dedication. Although this business unit is sunsetting, YGG’s vision and mission hasn’t changed. We are still fully dedicated to using technology to open up new economic opportunities for people globally.”
Going forward, YGG will focus on building out a B2B pipeline around gaming datasets for AI companies, including those building the new generation of world models.
Indeed, YGG has already been looking at the opportunities available in the AI sector, with its YGG Alerts initiative receiving 27,000 applications within its first five days. This will be rebranded to AI Alerts, allowing users to connect with verified, remote AI training job, and helping businesses implement AI tools.
