Why this crypto winter is harder to explain than the last one
Previous downturns came with obvious culprits. FTX, Voyager, Celsius, BlockFi, Terra Luna, each collapse gave the market a clean narrative for why things were falling apart. The run-up before it was equally legible, with Strategy stepping in, Elon Musk talking about Bitcoin, Doge and NFTs pulling in attention. This cycle offers nothing so tidy. The catalyst was ETFs, altcoins largely sat it out, and now prices are down sharply while other markets climb. That absence of a story is what makes this one disorienting, there’s no failure to point at, just an unexplained gap between crypto and everything else.
